I feel like I have a lot to offer the world and can be a great mom and a productive member of society... Where is the justice? I just want my story to be heard.

Crime of Conviction
Receiving stolen property; possession of a controlled substance

Year of Conviction
2016

A.G. was convicted and sentenced to 20 years following a blind plea. She has currently served 7 years of this sentence. A.G. reports multiple issues with her conviction process. First, the judge presiding over her trial had a “close relationship” with the woman whose stolen jewelry A.G. pawned. Furthermore, her attorney encouraged her to enter a blind plea, saying it was her only option, but A.G. is not sure that she was ever informed that the blind plea would enable the judge to sentence outside of the guidelines. Finally, she feels that she was excessively sentenced.
