M.M. writing from Illinois

I’ve been pro se in the courts so I am continuously railroaded. I have all the proof you need to know that I am dead serious. There are so many High Stakes Players involved in my case... That why these people treat me like a colored person in the 1950’s South.
— M.M.

Location
Cook County, Illinois

Crime of Conviction
Murder in the first degree; Aggravated discharge of a firearm

Year of Conviction
2000

Legal claims

M.M. claims that “[t]he State failed to prove its own case as can be seen by the Judge’s own words at trial,” and that “the police framed [him] and the State furthered that conspiracy when it received the case.” He had a clemency hearing, pursuant to his request for a full pardon based on innocence, scheduled for January 13, 2022. He claims that players are involved in his case “that have to do with Detective Jon Burge” (a deceased member of the Chicago PD who, per Wikipedia, “was found guilty of having ‘directly participated in or implicitly approved the torture’ of at least 118 people in police custody in order to force false confessions”).

Procedural issues

Conviction appears to have been affirmed on direct appeal.

M.M. was denied federal habeas corpus relief.

M.M. may have filed a "successive" post-conviction petition.

Counsel

No counsel currently reported.
