B.W. writing from Texas

Just because I was illiterate as a teen, having a slow start in life, doesn’t mean that people of profession have the right to persecute me.
— B.W.

Anderson County, TX

Crime of Conviction
Capital murder, robbery, kidnapping.

1999

B.W. is sentenced to life for what he claims was a wrongful conviction. He asserts that he was accused of capital murder for carjacking a couple. B.W. knew the female victim and had a prior relationship with her, but maintains that he was not involved in the crime. He writes that the detectives who arrested and interrogated him knew he had a low IQ and struggled to read and write, and confronted him with a large amount of paperwork to purposefully intimidate him. B.W. has sought appeals and habeas relief without success. He will be eligible for parole in 2039.
