I.D. was convicted upon a jury trial in 2007 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. They state that "sufficient evidence of the actual culprit" was sent by a former death row prisoner. I.D. also claims that a detective blackmailed and racial-profiled them, threatened their family, created falsehoods, hid evidence, and got an individual to lie on the stand. I.D. also makes claims concerning the legal representation they received and that that a prosecutor withheld evidence.

I.D. filed a post-conviction writ in 2015 that was denied.
