R.B. writing from Indiana

I hope and pray that you can help me with this injustice because I am truly innocent.
— R.B

Location
Ripley County, Indiana

Crime of Conviction
Child molestation

Year of Conviction
2010

Legal claims

R.B. writes that he is innocent and states that he was convicted because of inconclusive, possibly tainted DNA evidence (one nano-gram of material found in victims swimsuit, apparently below the lab testing requirement) and because the jury thought he "looked" guilty. He states that the victim's swimsuit was given to her family for 10 days before being entered into evidence, which he believes caused contamination.

Procedural issues

Filed an appeal in appellate court. Outcome unclear. Notes he is having difficulty obtaining documents related to the appeal from his attorney.

Counsel

Yes, hired a private attorney to do a post-conviction relief petition in 2014 but says she has not filed it or that she vacated the petition.
