M.L. was acquitted of capital murder, aggravated robbery, theft of property, possession of a firearm, and other charges, but convicted of felony murder in 2008. In that case, he writes that the prosecutor and judge "rigged" the jury instruction for first degree felony murder at the last minute to intentionally mislead the jury and induce them to convict. He writes that this first conviction was used to secure his second conviction, the following year, for capital murder.
