Crime of Conviction
Attempted Murder

Year of Conviction
2011

L.M.T. was sentenced to 27 years for attempted murder. She insists she acted in self defense, was wrongfully convicted, and excessively sentenced. L.M.T. claims her attorney had a conflict of interest, and the judge in her case refused to provide her with a new lawyer. She also maintains that the evidence presented to her Grand Jury contained false statements, leading to an incorrect indictment. She also believes the historical practice of disproportionately charging and sentencing African American defendants in Jefferson County influenced the outcome of her case.
